Selection Process

Tier 1 Written Exam (CBT):

• Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
• Time Duration: 60 minutes
• Sections: 4 (General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension)
• Questions: 100 (25 questions each section)
• Marks: 200 (2 marks for each correct answer)
• Negative Marking: 0.50 marks

Tier 2 Written Exam (CBT):

• Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
• Time Duration: 2 hours for each paper
• Sections: Paper I (Quantitative Abilities), Paper II (English Language and Comprehension), Paper III (Statistics) – applicable for certain posts
• Questions: Varies based on the paper
• Marks: Varies based on the paper
• Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer in Paper II (English Language and Comprehension), 0.50 marks for Paper I and Paper III

Tier 3:

• Mode: Pen and Paper (Descriptive)
• Time Duration: 1 hour
• Sections: Essay/Precis/Letter/Application Writing
• Marks: 100

Tier 4:

• Mode: As applicable for specific posts
• Nature: Qualifying in nature
• Sections: Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) for Tax Assistants and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for Assistant Section Officer in CSS and Assistant in MEA.
